WIŚNIOWSKI has completed the process of obtaining Type III Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for its PVC windows, confirming their environmental impact across the entire product life cycle.
The EPDs were issued for two size variants:
- EPD No. 61-1 for PVC windows measuring 1.23 × 1.48 m
- EPD No. 61-2 for PVC windows measuring 1.48 × 2.18 m
“Obtaining the EPDs marks yet another step in implementing our sustainability strategy and transparent environmental communication,” said Karolina Dorula-Mamala, Head of Product Testing & Certification and ESG Project Manager at WIŚNIOWSKI. “These documents are essential for investors and architects aiming to meet the criteria of building certifications such as BREEAM or LEED. In order to obtain a Type III Environmental Declaration, we had to verify numerous factors, including the amount of raw materials required for production, the energy consumption of the manufacturing process, water and electricity usage, emissions to water, soil and air, and total waste generated across the product’s life cycle. Once submitted, the certifying body reviewed our data and performed a life cycle assessment in accordance with the requirements of the EN ISO 14025 and EN 15804 standards.”
More EPDs in the pipeline
WIŚNIOWSKI has announced that it will continue its sustainability efforts with further EPD certifications already in progress. In the first and second quarters of 2025, new declarations are planned for steel and aluminium joinery, as well as glazing units. With these ongoing efforts, one of the largest manufacturers in the Nowy Sącz region continues to strengthen its position as a leader in sustainable solutions for modern construction, boosting its market competitiveness and responsibly shaping the future of the industry. To date, WIŚNIOWSKI has obtained Type III EPDs from the Building Research Institute (ITB) for its flagship products, including fence gates, industrial doors, and VEGA segments and panels.
What is an EPD and why does it matter? A Type III Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a document that transparently presents the true environmental impact of a product throughout its entire life cycle. These declarations provide manufacturers, contractors, and architects with reliable information about building materials, enabling informed and environmentally responsible choices for their projects.
